About Play Week East
Play Week East returns to the lovely tree-lined campus of Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. The campus is located just 8 miles from the charming and culturally vibrant town of Princeton, NJ, and is easily accessible from New York City and Philadelphia.
The four-and-a-half day format provides eight ensemble coachings, special-topic sessions, and participant and faculty concerts, but in a condensed time frame that fits into your busy schedule! The workshop begins Tuesday late afternoon and runs through late Saturday afternoon.
Individuals and pre-formed groups are welcome to apply.
String and Wind Players
While our program is mostly strings, some slots may be available for wind players. Wind players, please be sure to review COVID-19 policies as there are special requirements for wind players per venue policy.
We will stay in the West Village Apartments, Rider's newest and nicest residence hall. Participants will enjoy their own private, air-conditioned room within a comfortable four-bedroom suite; this year, we do not anticipate having more than two participants per suite. Each suite has a full bath and a large living room. For commuters, parking is adjacent to the building.
Meals at Rider are served in Daly's Dining Hall (this year, all meals will be served by staff versus self-serve). The college's food provider has a myriad of options for us, including gluten-free and vegetarian meals. The lovely 10-minute walk from West Village to Daly's passes by Centennial Lake and through the Campus Green. Those not wishing to walk may drive and park nearby.
Most ensembles meet in the spacious living rooms of the suites. The faculty and participants' concerts will take place in the beautifully restored Gill Memorial Chapel, which is used by the Westminster Choir College.
